To celebrate the month of love, SOAR Global Foundation launched its maiden Essay Writing Competition dubbed "The Love Project". School children in Ghana were asked to write letters to the organisation telling us "Why they love reading and what reading means to them". This project was implemented to encourage creativity in school children and enhance their writing skills. The project received over 90 submissions from various schools in the country. The first place winner received 300 books donated to her school's library in addition to personal gifts. 2nd place and 3rd place winners also received 150 books and 100 books donated to their school's library respectively. All books donated were supplied by Somebody Cares Aberdeen. mSimps, a Ghanaian-owned company, gifted a handmade African print backpack to the 1st place winner.
The winners were:
1st: Vanessa Afreh (SOS Herman Gmeiner School, Tema)
2nd: Lordina Acquah & Baaba Biney (Royal Diadem School, Achimota)
3rd: Ansrah Nice (Sota D/A Basic School, Dodowa).
4th: Adzadzi Esther (Wudoaba Basic School, Denu)
5th: Salma Mohammed Rashidi (Emerald Community School, Legon)
We are forever grateful to our team of volunteers for their selflessness and devotion to the organisations projects. Many thanks to Somebody Cares Aberdeen, mSimps and Metro Tv for supporting us.
